pursue the necessary steps for the City to join EBCE for service in- 202-1. Council also requested that the <br />City supplement EBCEs community outreach with its own efforts, to ensure Pleasanton businesses and <br />residents were fully informed on EBCE and its options to opt out and op up. Mr. Reda provided an update <br />on the next steps required for the resolution and ordinance to be approved by City Council. After those <br />steps on the City's end', the board of directors will vote on whether or not to accept the City of Pleasanton <br />into the EBCE. <br />The committee thanked staff for their hard work on this project and making the materials user friendly and <br />easy to understand. <br />Ms. Yurchak indicated that the same night of council meeting, Tracy also voted to join the EBCE. <br />Ms. Brown questioned if at this point it was really necessary to have a formal vote on the EBCE at this <br />point in the process. <br />Ms. Green inquired why a special meeting wasn't held as they committee had offered to make themselves <br />available. <br />Ms. Yurchak indicated that there really wasn't time to allow for that to. happen with the preparation of the <br />Council meeting and time sensitivity of this item. She said that in general the feedback seemed to be very <br />positive and supportive from the Council and if it had been more of a difficult process, further involvement <br />from the committee would have possibly been helpful. <br />Ms. Yurchak indicated that the role of the committee has been fulfilled at this time. She said the committee <br />was very effective in setting the criteria which was brought before the Council for consideration. Part of <br />the council recommendation was for the City to be actively involved in a communication plan to the <br />residents and business customers. There will be lots opportunities for the committee to be involved in events <br />to promote the communication on EBCE (i.e. committee meetings, Fanner -markets, public events, special <br />events, etc.) which will begin_ in early.. Spring. The committee was interested in helping with <br />communications on this project and ensuring customers are aware of their options available with this <br />program. <br />Committee members Ms. Brown, Mr. Cartwright, Ms. Chang, Mr. Daggy, , Ms. Green, Mr. Liu, and Mr. <br />Gan all provided comments and feedback on their support of the EBCE Program. <br />Mr. Reda indicated he worked with Hacienda Business Park to provide -updates on the EBCE for the <br />Hacienda Business Park Newsletter which is distributed to 6,000 readers. He will continue to do so as more <br />information. is to be distributed on the options of EBCE. Ms. Chang asked if staff could also contact the <br />Diablo magazine with updates as they typically have information on the Tri -Valley area. <br />7. Updates from the Subcommittees <br />East Bay Community Energy Evaluation: Ms. Brown indicated that she spent.a lot of time sending out <br />emails to reach out to residents to show their support for the EBCE Program. Ms. Yurchak indicated that if <br />any of the Council receives emails from the public, they are distributed to the entire council for review. <br />Ms. Brown indicated that the subcommittee will continue their support for EBCE geared towards outreach <br />and communication. <br />The committee requested to agendize the EBCE for the January, 2020 meeting, for further formal <br />discussion.. <br />Climate Action Plan Update: Mr. Gan agreed to work on the CAP subcommittee. <br />Energy & Environment Committee Minutes Page 4 of 5 <br />
