revising the biddable plans and specifications based upon the redesign work to date.
The amendment will also cover the cost of preparing the plats and legal descriptions for
the right-of-entry agreements and the easements needed for the landscaped buffer
areas. While HMH will prepare these exhibits for the right-of-entry agreements and
easements, City staff will continue to work with the property owners and prepare the
case-specific language for the easements and agreements. The right-of-entry
agreements will expire when construction is complete. The easements will be recorded
by the County of Alameda and will run with the land in perpetuity.
Schedule
With the approval of this amendment, the plans and specifications are expected to be
completed by January 2020. Bidding will follow in February 2020. If bidding is
successful, a recommendation to award a construction contract will be before City
Council in March 2020. This should allow construction to begin in April or May 2020
(after the winter rains have ended). As currently envisioned, the retaining wall, concrete
trail, and western edge treatments will be constructed first. This will allow the existing
parking spaces on the east side of the corridor to remain in use while this work to the
west is completed. By fall 2020, the east side work should begin so that the parking lot
and trail are available for use by the end of 2020. However, the construction contractor
that submits the winning bid may have another idea about how they will phase the work.
This is possible because the bid documents will not dictate the means and methods to
be used, but they will provide requirements that existing parking spaces remain in use
to the degree possible throughout construction, and will dictate the allowed number of
working days that will have the project complete by the end of 2020.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
/1-
Stephen Ki ./trick Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Engineering Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments:
1 .
