THE CITY OF
Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails
wow. giur LEASANTONC Agenda Report
October 28, 2019
Item 4
SUBJECT: REVIEW AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON THE PROPOSED MEASURE B/BB 20
PERCENT FUNDING PROJECTS
SUMMARY
The City adopted the current Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan in January of 2018. The
primary focus of the Master Plan was to prioritize and complete all-ages and abilities corridors
within the city. However, the plan also recognized the need to fund spot projects that may not be
within the top ranked corridors. To fund both the top priority corridors and spot projects, the
Master Plan recommended a funding distribution that consisted of an 80/20 split of Measure
B/BB funds. This allows for the majority of Measure B/BB funding to go towards the top ranked
corridor projects, while still allowing funding for spot improvements.
Currently the 20 percent funds from Measure B/BB total approximately $250,000. Based on
review of existing conditions, feedback from all departments within the city and feedback from
residents, Staff has determined the following four projects to be the highest spot improvements
within the city.
1 . Valley Avenue at Hansen Drive: potential improvements consist of bulb-outs to shorten
pedestrian crossing.
2. Iron Horse Trail Wayfinding: signing and striping improvements at the major intersection
crossings of the Iron Horse Trail.
3. Stoneridge Drive Buffered Bike Lanes: between Santa Rita and Trevor Parkway.
4. Bernal at Hearst and Bernal at Kottinger: modified lane and bike configurations.
These projects will be discussed in more detail at the October 28, 2019 BPTC meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails Committee provide feedback on the
projects.
ACTION
No action required — informational item only.
