verified to be satisfactory. Staff recommends award of the construction contract to
Goodland Landscape Construction, Inc.
Budget
The anticipated total expenditure for this project is $507,000, including a construction
contingency of $67,500. Staff recommends that the contingency amount for this project
be set at approximately 15 percent of the construction contract. This contingency would
cover a potential expansion of the project limits due to defects that may become
apparent during the demolition phase and potential electrical complications with
servicing the existing buildings. The budget also includes $5,000 for PG&E's design and
installation and $5,000 for material testing services performed under the City's existing
on-call contracts.
A total of $425,000 was budgeted for this project in the Capital Improvement Program
based upon previous cost of installation of Concession Stand No. 3. An additional
$85,000 is recommended to be transferred from the General Fund —Capital
Improvement Program Reserve (CIPR), to complete the project funding.
Schedule
Construction should not have an impact to the programed events at Ken Mercer Sports
Park as the site work is scheduled to be completed during the closure of the park (late
November 2019 through the end of February 2020). The use of a prefabricated building
limits the impacts to the park and adjacent residents to approximately two months of
construction, depending on weather. It is anticipated that Concession Stand No. 2 can
be reopened for the spring softball season.
The proposed schedule for the project is as follows:
Approval of Plans and Specifications/Award of Contract
Start Fabrication of Building
Start of Site Construction
End of Construction
Submitted by:
Stephen Kir trick
Director of Engineering
Attachments:
Fiscal Review:
(
Tina Olson
Director of Finance
1.
