Commissioners were informed that Enjoy Life More has full and part-time employees and a <br />large number of volunteers, all who work to better,serve adults with disabilities in the Tri -Valley <br />by helping them achieve life-long independence by providing support that ensures participants <br />in the program are able to integrate well into the community. <br />Ms. Correia provided detailed information about the establishment of a monthly calendar for <br />program participants and the activities that involve them in community programs, services and <br />events. <br />Commissioners were provided information about the 501(c)(3) background of Enjoy Life More, <br />the clients being served from Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore and San Ramon, and <br />funding/donations being received for the programs. <br />Commissioner Powers was provided information about daily activities that clients are able to <br />participate in that include: 1) visits to the library, 2) helping at Open Heart Kitchen, 3) coffee <br />trips to Characterz Cafe, 4) assisting with community clean-up, etc. <br />Ms. Correia provided Commissioner Clare with information about transportation for participants <br />and Commissioner Sedlak was advised that the timeframe for services provided is 9:30 a.m. to <br />2:30 p.m. Ms. Correia also discussed with Commissioner Hayes the importance of volunteers <br />helping to provide services. <br />Commissioner Carlucci was advised that client's range in age from 18 -year and older and <br />clients in the program are referred by Regional Center East Bay and by word-of-mouth <br />promotion. Commissioner Sedlak was informed that participants are allowed to stay in the <br />program indefinitely unless they feel they are no longer receiving any benefit from it or have <br />achieved the ultimate goal of becoming independent. <br />Commissioner Sedlak questioned Ms. Correia whether Enjoy Life More was considering <br />submitting an application to the City of Pleasanton for funding and whether she has been <br />informed about Zoomgrant. Mr. Ingram advised that staff has discussed this with Ms. Correia <br />and would provide her with additional information. <br />Commissioner Powers asked about the number of days each week that clients participate in <br />the program and where the agency receives its current funding. She was advised that clients <br />can participate five days per week, however, some clients work part-time so only join programs <br />two or three days a week. Funding for the programs is received from East Bay Regional <br />Center and private donations. <br />Commissioner Carlucci noted that the programs offered seem to be learning while being <br />recreational and suggested it would be helpful to provide information about job placement <br />opportunities that have been achieved for clients. Ms Correia discussed the scope of the <br />program and what is provided to clients through the Regional Center. <br />Commissioner Gohil was advised by Ms. Correia that feedback from clients is received on a <br />regular basis and surveys are conducted annually. <br />Human Services Commission <br />August 7, 2019 <br />Page 2 <br />
