7. Alternative 4— Elevated Two-way Separated Bikeway with Landscaping (High Cost) Additionally, Mark Thomas will prepare planning level cost estimates for intersection treatments and/or modifications along the project alignment. It is assumed that each intersection will have up to two variations that will be estimated as a part of this task. These estimates are conceptual in nature and will be rough order of magnitude with a 30% contingency. Unit costs will be based upon recent, relevant bid prices, the Caltrans cost database and other relevant sources of cost data. Task 5 Deliverables • Seven (7) Initial Concept Design Plan Sets (11"x17") • Planning-level Cost Estimates in PDF Format New Task to be Added Task 8. 35% Design Once the preferred alternative has been selected, Mark Thomas will prepare a 35%design for the project. Toole Design will support Mark Thomas by providing oversight and reviewing submissions for consistency with the preferred concept alternative. Plans will be prepared to confirm rough geometrics and major design features so that once confirmed, the major design elements may be detailed efficiently and effectively at later design stages without redesign. To this end,the 35% plans will focus on the major physical improvements (layout and alignment of lanes, turn pockets, striping, intersection improvements, and traffic signal layouts). Plans will be cut and drafted focusing on the gross level physical improvements without detail, enabling the identification of primary construction elements and bid items. The project plans will include the following sheets: • Title Sheet (1) • Key Map (1) • Typical Cross Sections (4) • Layout and Striping Plans 1"=40' scale (15) • Construction Details (17) • Layout Plan of Major Signal Equipment (9) It is assumed we will prepare a total of 47 sheets. A construction cost estimate based on the project plans will be prepared and unit costs will be based upon recent, relevant bid prices, the Caltrans cost database and other relevant sources of cost data. It is assumed we will use open source (free) aerial image files for the basis of design and background for the plan sheets, therefore the design will not include computed baselines, or any vertical information. Topographic surveys will be completed after the geometrics shown in the 35%design have been approved by the City.
