ry TJ KM VISION THAT MOVES YOUR COMMUNITY
TJKM Background and Qualifications TJKM Transportation Consultants has been
headquartered in Pleasanton for the past 35 years of its 45 year history. Other offices are in San
Jose, Sacramento, Austin and Tampa. TJKM has completed more than 540 projects in the City of
Pleasanton. Our offices have been continually located in Hacienda Business Park since 1984; we
were the traffic consultant for the team that designed the Park.We have designed the majority
of all traffic signals in Pleasanton, we provided the conceptual design for the widening of
Hopyard Road, Santa Rita Road, Stoneridge Drive and Stoneridge Drive extension, W. Las Positas
Blvd., portions of Valley Avenue and many other streets. We participated in the design of the
Stoneridge, Hopyard, Hacienda, Santa Rita and El Charro Road interchanges on I-680 and I-580
as well as both BART stations. We were the traffic engineers for Valley Business Park, Koll Center
Business Park, the office park west of Hacienda Business Park and others. We served as traffic
engineers for many of the post-1974 residential developments in Pleasanton. Most of these
projects were under the general direction of the author of this letter, who has over 55 years of
traffic engineering experience and is a 35 year Pleasanton resident.
I appreciate the opportunity to provide assistance on this project.
Very truly yours,
atv.).
Chris D. Kinzel, P.E.
Vice President
at any time of the day. With all of
this activity, a wider driveway will facilitate circulation rather than create congestion points near
the driveway. And obviously, pedestrians crossing a 40 feet driveway have less exposure than
pedestrians crossing the two existing driveways that are each greater than 30 feet wide.
Reduced Circulation south of 7-11 One additional factor favoring a wider driveway: the office
complex just south of the current 7-11 location is currently interconnected with the 7-11 via an
internal driveway. This office building at present is served by the fourth driveway along Hopyard
Road; in the after condition it will be the third driveway. The current situation allows delivery
trucks and customers exiting the 7-11 site to use the fourth driveway. The interconnection
between the office and 7-11 buildings will be closed, meaning there will be more reliance on the
proposed 40 foot wide driveway by 7-11 vehicles.
Compact and Complex Site needs wider driveway The new site has compact circulation
patterns, again suggesting that a wider driveway would be beneficial. TJKM strongly supports
the 40 foot wide driveway. As noted above, while some agencies use 35 feet as a maximum
driveway width, TJKM has encountered many situations in which the local agency allows 40 feet
or more in driveway width.
0 2 0 0 0 2
PMC VIOLATION 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 1
PUBLIC INTOXICATION 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0
STALL 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1
STOLEN VEHICLE 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 2
SUSPICIOUS PERSON 3 2 6 6 2 1 1 3
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE 3 3 8 4 0 0 0 2
TRAFFIC STOP 14 9 18 16 6 6 11 5
TRESPASSING 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0
WELFARE CHECK 0 0 0 3 0 0 0 1
Grand Total 36 41 68 67 17 20 26 31
be forfeited if the trees
are destroyed or substantially damaged.
