Mayor Thorne opened public comment. <br />Micaela Hertle, Library Commission Chair, adivsed that this request came directly from the Library <br />Commission and provided statistical information regarding library fees and customer behavior <br />regarding the fines and library usage. <br />Mayor Thorne closed public comment. <br />Councilmembers Pentin Narum and Testa expressed support. <br />Councilmember Brown expressed her opposition to the item and feels the no -fee program will <br />encourage patrons to not pay the fees. <br />Mayor Thorne will support the item at this time but would like to receive a status report at a future <br />City Council meeting. <br />MOTION: It was m/s by Pentin/Narum to adopt and waive full reading of Resolution No. 19-1104 <br />updating the City's Master Fee Schedule for Library fees. Motion passed by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Narum, Pentin, Testa, Mayor Thorne <br />Noes: Councilmember Brown <br />Absent: None <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL <br />Councilmember Pentin requested to place on a future agenda an item to ban electronic cigarettes in the <br />City of Pleasanton. Mr. Fialho reported that the Youth Commission is currently working on bringing this <br />item forward for City Council's consideration. Councilmember Pentin withdrew the request. <br />COUNCIL REPORTS <br />Councilmember Pentin advised that as a board member of he recently received a demonstration of the <br />recycle app and it will be available by year-end. This will allow a resident to determine if an item can be <br />recycled. <br />Mayor Thorne reported he attended the US Congress of Mayors Conference and noted a tremendous <br />amount of interest in addressing the homeless problem. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:03 p.m. The Council extended a <br />tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military.
