Table 2 shows the current base rate for the 35-gallon cart at $26.87 and 96-gallon rate
at $46.89. The methodology employed to establish the rates for the solid waste bin
service was used to determine the cost for increased frequency for the cart service.
Using the current rate relationship basis between existing bin rates will not create
incentives or penalizations to any customers that may wish to use these rates.
Table 2.
Proposed Commercial Cart Rates Increase in base rate
Solid Waste by frequency
Gallons Frequency Proposed Rate
35 1 $26.87 BASE RATE
2 $54.81 2.04 times
3 $85.18 3.17 times
4 $111.78 4.16 times
5 $138.11 5.14 times
96 1 $46.89 BASE RATE
2 $95.65 2.04 times
3 $148.64 3.17 times
4 $194.84 4.16 times
5 $240.82 5.14 times
Tables 3 and 4 address the mixed recycling cart rates. This is handled differently
because unlike solid waste, the initial cart is free. A second recycling cart (Table 3) is
currently set at 75% of the 96-gallon solid waste cart rate (Table 2). It is proposed that
an additional recycling cart with increased service frequency that reflects that same
discount with up to five times a week service.
Table 3.
Proposed Additional Commercial Cart Rates
Mixed Recycling — SECOND CART
Gallons Frequency Proposed Rate
96 second cart 1 $35.17
2 $71.74
3 $111.64
4 $146.13
5 $180.62
The rates for increased service frequency of the first recycling container (Table 4) are
designed to match the equivalent service level of an additional recycling cart (Table 3),
thereby creating no incentive for either more carts or more service because the client
will receive the same weekly volume of service for the same price.
