Downtown Specific Plan Other
Update
P18-0050
The Downtown Specific Plan was adopted in 2002, and serves as a guide for the future
development and preservation of the downtown area, addressing issues such as land use,
transportation, parking, historic preservation, design and beautification, and economic
vitality. City Council has identified updating the Downtown Specific Plan as a priority,
has approved a scope of work and professional services contract, and has confirmed a 10 -
member Task Force to guide this process. The Task Force has met regularly since
January 2017 to discuss existing conditions, opportunities and constraints, and consider
land use and policy options for various parts of the Specific Plan Area, including the
current Civic Center site.
• Status Under Review
• Next Steps/Details: The Task Force held its final meeting on May 28, 2019,
and the Planning Commission advanced the plan to the
City Council at its June 26, 2019, meeting. A City
Council hearing date, once determined, will be posted to
the project website, but is expected in August or
September 2019
• Applicant: City of Pleasanton
• Staff Contact(s): Shweta Bonn
40. Johnson Drive Economic I Commercial
Development Zone
(JDEDZ)
The Johnson Drive Economic Development Zone is currently the subject of a lawsuit.
The Petitioner in this lawsuit alleges that the air quality analysis contained in the
Supplemental Environmental Impact Report for the JDEDZ was incomplete. The
Petitioner also alleges that the economic analysis for the project should have been
recirculated for public review. Given the inherent delay associated with litigation
involving the California Environmental Quality Act, the City has agreed to set aside the
approvals so that supplemental environmental review can take place.
