He commented on revenue comparisons for the different surfaces <br />compared to the existing courts. <br />Jack Macready — thanked staff for doing the research and indicated he had been a member <br />of the Task Force that had looked at 10 different sites and lots of materials, advising they <br />had focused on EPDM courts at Castlewood and Boccemon courts at Ruby Hills and <br />everyone preferred the Boccemon courts. Mr. Macready felt it was important for the bocce <br />program to grow and this would not be possible if the correct surface was not provided to <br />attract new players. ,. <br />The meeting was closed for public comment at 7: <br />Commissioner Brown felt good public comments ad%been received and indicated she had <br />recently played the EPDM courts at Castlewogd r ci had found -=them fast to play. <br />Commissioner Wahl felt that Boccemon was thappropriate surface`for the Centennial Park <br />courts and best over longtime. Ms. Murph�,advised'that a motion could include <br />something pertaining tojinding funding for thi'.s,a�d could based on actual contract cost. <br />Commissioner Wahl was provided Jrnformation on how current revenue pays for staff time. <br />She asked ifsorne4qualificatifor the motion and whether the City was <br />subsidizing yo°6th programs,, if so, somethmg�equaI should be done for seniors. Ms. Murphy <br />advised that dollaramounts for bocce�are for a team and any increase would be broken <br />down by however many playerswere on the team. Commissioner Hekl -felt the City should <br />have a consistent philosophy pertainingto subsidizing of programs. <br />A motion made by Commissioner W' ahl, was seconded by Commissioner Hekl, with a <br />recommendation to move forward6Nith the Centennial Park bocce ball court renovation using <br />Boccemon for the surface �',TheCommission would like City Council: to consider contracting <br />to someone that has experti, in maintenance of oyster -shell like -bocce court surfaces and <br />look at whether additional maintenance costs can be subsidized by the City or offset by <br />revenues received for bocce. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE: <br />AYES: Commissioners Hekl,.
