Commissioner Skowlund advised she had been selected as the new President of The Friends <br />of the Library. <br />10. Other brief reports on any meetings, conferences, and/or seminars attended by <br />the Commission members <br />None. <br />COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Damaser was provided information about the recent Volunteer Celebration by <br />Ms. Murphy. He also had questions about the Naturalization event. <br />Chairperson Hertle congratulated Commissioner Sabatini being sworn -in as a Regular <br />member of the Library Commission. She also asked everyone to sign a card to be sent to <br />Sean Lehman whose term on the Commission had ended. <br />STAFF COMMENTS <br />11. Schedule of Upcoming Meetings and Events of Interest — reviewed. <br />Ms. Murphy provided information about: <br />• Youth Commission will be voting. at their next meeting on whether to recommend to City <br />Council to allow youth members of commissions to vote. <br />• Treasures of Japan event scheduled for May 4 & 5, 2019 at the Pleasanton Senior <br />Center. <br />• May 11, 2019 Rose Show Event <br />FUTURE AGENDA TOPICS <br />A. Commissioner Nibert commented on an article she'd received entitled: "What to expect <br />from Libraries in the 21st Century". Ms. Murphy indicated she would do research on this <br />and add to a future meeting agenda. <br />B. Commissioner Sabatini discussed requests ,received from students for space at the <br />library during finals week. Ms. Murphy indicated that additional tables and chairs could <br />be provided. <br />C. Commissioner Grewel had questions about City Council's budget vote and the library's <br />items regarding fines. Chairperson Hertle suggested something be added to the City <br />Council packet reiterating the Commissions support of this item. Ms. Murphy indicated <br />she would add information to the staff report for this item. <br />D. Commissioner Skowlund asked about the vote of the Youth Commission to allow youth <br />members on other commissions the opportunity to vote. Commissioner Hertle provided <br />information and suggested Commissioners. try to attend the upcoming Youth <br />Commission meeting. <br />i <br />Library Commission . <br />May 2,2019 <br />Page 5 <br />
