EXHIBIT J: PUBLIC COMMENTS1[PLEASANTp N'/
„cp.,1'OWN SPK tff4 PLAN UPDATE
From: Andrew Shaper
Sent: Thursday,June 06, 2019 1:51 PM
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject: DTSP
Dear Council Members,
I am so disappointed that the DTSP Committee, undoubtedly guided by Planning Staff, has rejected the
changes that you, as our elected officials, approved to the "draft" DTSP. If there was ever any doubt
about who runs Pleasanton it is now abundantly clear that the power resides with the developers, the
downtown merchants association and the chamber of commerce.
When I have spoken with some of you about this power shift over the last several years I was reassured
the review process provided multiple opportunities for review and correction. Now your carefully
considered, and duly approved, amendments were rejected out of hand by the real Pleasanton power
brokers. The merchant bureaucracy and city staff are a runaway train determined to do what they want
regardless of input from other stakeholders and guidance from you as our elected officials.
Very disappointed,
Andrew Shaper,
A 37 year downtown resident
Prepared for the June 26, 2019, Planning Commission Meeting 1
wn area in the improvements included in the Proposed either the City's Engineering
City's Bicycle and Plan.
