b. Special Event Sub -Committee — no report. <br />COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />A. Commissioner Nene commented on the recent Treasures of Japan event and workshop <br />she had attended and how much she had enjoyed them. <br />B. Commissioner Song advised she too had attended the Treasures of Japan event and had <br />found it exciting and interesting. <br />C. Commissioner Jellison also attended the Treasures of Japan event and workshop and was <br />impressed with how the camera had been -set-up and projected the artist at work on the <br />screen. She also attended a show at the Firehouse Arts Center. <br />D. Commissioner Wedge-Bonde provided information about a Light of Field event in Paso <br />Robles she had found inspiring and would like to share with other Commissions. <br />E. Vice Chairperson Casey asked staff to provide the Commission with a project list update at <br />the next meeting.. <br />Ms. Whitney commented on the grant process and asked Commissioners if they had been <br />notified about the program before information had been sent out to the agencies. <br />STAFF COMMENTS <br />Ms. Whitney. advised: <br />A. Staff is looking at the Grant Review process and how they should be managed, this . <br />includes Zoomgrants. She advised that staff for each Commission will now review and <br />manage things and not the Management Analyst. Staff is also looking at groups that apply for <br />funding and why some groups have stopped applying for funds. <br />Ms. Whitney additionally advised that since the special event "Ignite" is already fully funded, no <br />funds will be allocated from the grant funds. She also advised that staff is looking at the dollar <br />amount of funds in the Civic Arts category and considering the request that additional funds be <br />allocated. <br />Vice Chairperson Casey was advised by Ms. Whitney that staff hopes to provide feedback on <br />the Grant Review process at the July or August meeting. <br />Commissioners commented on changing the allocation request amount from $7,500 to <br />$10,000 and the need for additional funds being available, even though that was not the case <br />this year. <br />B: Provided details of the planned.Summer StoryWalk © event to be launched June 1. <br />Civic Arts Commission Minutes <br />May 6, 2019 <br />Page 4 . <br />
