BACKGROUND
The Operations Services Department entered into a contract with Terra Landscape in
September 2016 to perform landscape maintenance services in street medians, Main
Street planter bowls, and Main Street sidewalk, curb, trash can, bench, and gutter
maintenance. Maintenance services for Main Street are performed on a weekly basis
and include such activities as: sidewalk blowing, trash can cleaning, planter bowl weed
removal, irrigation maintenance and pruning. Due to a new planting plan designed to
improve downtown beautification, multiple annual plant changes are required for the
planter bowls. To accommodate the increase in planting changes and maintenance of
the planter bowls additional funding is required. The amendment to the contract will
enable staff to implement the new Main Street planter bowl design, maintain an
improved level of service at each bowl location, and to continue city-wide median and
Main Street planter bowl maintenance for FY 2019/20.
The cost to implement the new planter design and maintenance standard is $95,000.
Funding for the contract with Terra Landscape is partially funded by the one-time
Downtown Beautification Fund and Parks Maintenance operational budget under
contract services. Funding for on-going city-wide median and Main Street planter bowl
maintenance is included in the FY 2019/20 Parks Maintenance Division budget.
Submitted by: Fis I Review: Approved by:

Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Operations and Director of Finance City Manager
Water Utilities
Attachments:
1.
