BACKGROUND
Since July 2014, St. Francis Electric has been one of two as-needed street light
maintenance contractors with a not-to-exceed contract limit of $100,000 and have been
responsible for maintenance and emergency response services for the City's street light
infrastructure. Since November 2018, St. Francis Electric has responded to two (2)
emergency pole knockdowns caused by traffic accidents and have repaired over 500
feet of damaged underground electrical wiring. These necessary repairs have been the
contributing factor in exceeding the contract limit. Staff is requesting an additional
$50,000 to be added to the contract limit to pay for current repairs and to allow for any
future unanticipated emergency repairs that may occur before the contract term expires
on June 30, 2019.
On March 19, 2019 the City Council approved a three (3) year maintenance agreement
with another street light contractor that was executed on April 2, 2019. On June 30,
2019, St. Francis Electric's as-needed contract will expire, and all work will be
transferred to the new street light contractor.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved py:
Lk/
Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Operations and Director of Finance City Manager
Water Utilities
Attachments:
1.
