5. Discuss Potential New Subject — Specific Subcommittees Under the Committee on Energy and the <br />Environment. <br />Ms. Green reported that City Council Priorities related to the committee were approved with the <br />exception of making the committee permanent. However, the City Council has decided to extend the <br />committee for an additional two-year term. <br />Ms. Green indicated that in the past the committee has discussed creating subcommittees and inquired if <br />the committee had any interest. <br />The group discussed the formation of the following subcommittees and committee members volunteered <br />to participate in the subcommittees: <br />EBCE — Brown and Liu <br />Water Supply Alternatives — Green and Cartwright <br />CAP Update — Chang and Deep <br />The subcommittees will meet on the months that the Committee does not meet as necessary to work on <br />their respective issues of concerns. It was noted that no minutes would be taken at the meetings. Mr. Lee <br />reviewed the importance of following the Brown Act with the subcommittees. <br />Mr. Lee reported that this item will be agendized for final approval at the May 22, 2019 meeting. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMITTEE MEMBERS <br />None <br />REPORTS ON CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS ATTENDED BY COMMITTEE MEMBERS <br />Mr. Reda provided an overview of the Earth Day activities which will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 <br />from 1:00 — 4:00 p.m. at the Pleasanton Library. He indicated that he would forward the finalized flyer to <br />Mr. Lee to email to the committee members. It was suggested that someone advertise this event at the <br />Farmer's Market. <br />Ms. Chang provided an update on two recent conferences she attended on soil testing and Climate Change <br />and Its Connection to Health Care. She distributed a flyer from StopWaste on lawn conversions. Mr. Lee <br />indicated that the City of Pleasanton's Environmental Services - Water Conservation Program promotes <br />sheet mulch and also runs a rebate program for lawn conversions. <br />Mr. Lee reported that the Air Resource Board is going to provide a lawn and garden road show for electrical <br />equipment in July 2019 for the City of Pleasanton Operations Department. Mr. Lee indicated he would <br />also invite the Pleasanton Unified School District to the event as well and will provide more information <br />on the event as it becomes available. <br />Ms. Green reported that at a recent conference she attended she was informed about a group of geologists <br />in the Central Valley that realized there are valleys filled with material that make subsurface conduits that <br />are very storage friendly that could capture atmospheric water and bank it. These geologists are working <br />to map these areas and create some infrastructure to channel the water there for storage.
