Tri -Valley startups have raised capital from <br />prominent venture groups like Kleiner Perkins, <br />SoftBank and Venrock, corporate strategics <br />like Aptiv (NYSE: APTV), Stripe and Guidewire <br />(NYSE: GWRE), corporate venture groups <br />like Google Ventures, Intel Capital and Airbus <br />Ventures, as well as international groups from <br />Canada, China and the Middle East. The most <br />active investment group was Pleasanton - <br />based Tri -Valley Ventures who made <br />investments into eight early-stage companies <br />Tri -Valley Ventures' Managing Partner, Greg <br />Hitchan, believes that the record investment <br />activity of 2018 will only continue to grow. <br />"There are a lot early and mid -stage startups <br />that are on track to either raise a meaningfully <br />large round or even reach a successful exit <br />within the next couple years. At the <br />early stage where we mostly play, when we <br />talk with entrepreneurs, I see first-hand that <br />more and more of them are choosing to start <br />their business in the Tri -Valley. It's not having <br />to commute two hours each way, the cheaper <br />rent, the availability of senior -level talent around <br />the area. It's starting to make a real difference." <br />More companies in the region means more <br />investments being made. Tri -Valley Ventures <br />recently announced that they'll be raising their <br />second fund to continue investing in Tri -Valley <br />companies. "There is no shortage of promising <br />companies in this area and I think that's pretty <br />clear from how quickly and successfully we <br />were able to deploy our first fund. We've <br />invested in some, want to continue investing <br />in a lot of them, and we know there's many <br />more out there that could use our help.
