BACKGROUND
Approximately 75 percent of the City's annual water supply is purchased from Zone 7
Water Agency. The remaining 25 percent of the City's annual water supply comes from
its own groundwater supply wells. Proper water treatment of the City's groundwater
supply is required by the State Water Resources Control Board Division of Drinking
Water. The chlorine tablets are used as part of the disinfection process, which protects
water from microbiological contamination in the distribution system.
The City previously entered into a purchase order agreement with Ryan Process Inc. for
FY 2018/2019 with a not to exceed limit of$90,000 for the purchase of chlorine tablets
used for water treatment at the City's groundwater supply wells. Based on current
trends, it is anticipated that the required quantity of chlorine tablets for water treatment
will exceed the original estimated amount for FY2018/2019. An amendment to the
original purchase order agreement with Ryan Process Inc. from $90,000 to $125,000 is
required for the purchase of chlorine tablets throughout the remaining portion of the
fiscal year.
Submitted by: Fisc I Review: Approv by:
Kathleen Yurchak ° Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Operations and Director of Finance City Manager
Water Utilities
Attachments:
1.
