THE CITY OF 5 <br /> i CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON® <br /> April 16, 2019 <br /> Community Development <br /> TITLE: RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE 2020 CENSUS <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Every ten years, the United States Census Bureau is required to conduct a count of the <br /> nation's population, with the next Census scheduled for April 1, 2020. Cooperation and <br /> partnership with local jurisdictions is critical in ensuring that the Census is complete and <br /> accurate, with data gathered from the Census used as a basis for State and federal <br /> allocations of funding and resources for many critical services and programs over the <br /> coming decade. With the 2020 Census now less than 12 months away, the League of <br /> California Cities has requested the City of Pleasanton, along with other California cities <br /> and Counties, adopt a resolution of support for the effort, and stating a commitment to <br /> participate and partner to ensure a complete and accurate count. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution of support for the <br /> 2020 Census. <br />
