Mr.Nelson Fialho/Dr.David Haglund Page 16
Preliminary Issues Assessment of Potential Colocation of Maintenance Facilities
3. Parking
City of Pleasanton
The City has 183 vehicles and 67 additional pieces of equipment on its existing site. The size
of vehicles or equipment was not requested as a data point. As previously noted, the current
employee count is 123 to 172 per day. There are 110 spaces for employee parking.Based on
the timing of work schedules there is sufficient parking for employees. However, when fire
or police training classes are being held or when the large(Remillard)conference room is in
use, parking is not sufficient. The City has 40 spaces now for visitor parking and has
indicated that 20 more are needed.
Pleasanton Unified School District
The District has 44 vehicles, 19 trailers and 3 auto lifts.Six of the vehicles are buses. The size
of the vehicles or equipment was not requested as a data point in this preliminary
assessment. There are 37 spaces for District vehicles, deliveries and child nutrition. There is
reportedly no parking specifically designated for visitors at the current site.
As previously noted,up to 47 employees currently use the facilities. The District estimates it
will need 30 spaces for fleet vehicles and another 50 spaces for employees and visitors to the
site. The District noted that some added parking would be needed for supervisors that come
to the site for training and meetings.
4. Hours of Operation
City of Pleasanton
Most City staff arrive at 5:30 a.m. and are on site nine hours per day, five days per week.
Police and fire personnel are on site on weekends and after normal working hours. The
water well operates continually on the site 24 hours per day/seven days per week.
Pleasanton Unified School District
District employees arrive at their work site at 5:30 a.m. Grounds crews work on weekends.
S. Future Needs Identified by the Agencies
City of Pleasanton
The City indicates the need for additional office and work space for the environmental
services staff and additional conference rooms or training space to accommodate police and
fire training. The City has plans to locate a new emergency operations center(EOC) adjacent
to fire training tower or above the gun range in the future. There may be an opportunity to
coordinate emergency operations with the District.
Pleasanton Unified School District
The District indicates the need for additional conference space, which could be shared with
the City.Added storage space(including surplus furnishings) and added warehouse space
for stocking custodial supplies was also requested.
