in the process of putting together a leadership team and are talking about hiring additional <br />people. Funding will allow for build -out of infrastructure. <br />Commissioner Sedlak asked about location of a new facility and Mr. DiGiovanni advised that <br />CityServe is still looking, but it would likely be in Livermore and the Multi -service Center. <br />Commissioner Sedlak asked about the use of funds if a place is not found in Livermore. <br />Mr. DiGiovanni advised that they hoped to have a place by July. <br />Commissioner Wright asked Mr. DiGiovanni to confirm that a Livermore location was not yet <br />firmed up. He stated that there was no signed contract, but conversations with the City .of <br />Livermore are going well and space is available. <br />Mr. Ingram commented on the availability of space in the City of Livermore, $60,000 being <br />provided by both the City of Pleasanton and the C.ity of Livermore that will allow CityServe to <br />move forward in finding a suitable location. <br />NAMI Tri -Valley — Pleasanton Housing and Human Services Grant Application, Gwen Lewis — <br />provided information about NAMI and the mission of the group advising that they provide <br />support, resource and educational information, and the programs and services they provide. <br />She commented on support groups, educational outreach, workshops and mental health first- <br />aid services providers as well as the collaboration that takes place with other organizations. <br />References were made to the Eastern Regional Needs Assessment and what needs were <br />identified and the needs identified for the City of Pleasanton. Ms. Lewis commented on the <br />needs that NAMI will be able to meet with the funds requested. <br />A young man, Kendall, provided commissioners with information about the benefits of the <br />program and how it helps individuals talk about 5150 issues and how to learn to cope with <br />issues. He advised that being able to attend the meetings helps people learn how to make <br />their lives more beneficial and prevent hospitalization. He advised that free services are hard <br />to find and this would be a small investment for the City of Pleasanton to make that would <br />provide a high return. <br />Commissioner Clare asked for confirmation that the funding requested was not for salaries but <br />would be to provide a stipend for facilitators. <br />Commissioner Wright questioned whether a `National Model' was being used for the program <br />and whether licensed individuals were involved. Kendall advised that peer counselors receive <br />training and there is a set curriculum. <br />Commissioner Hayes noted that the commission was unable to recommend the allocation of <br />funding for administrative services and wondered how they could consider this program for <br />funding. She questioned whether staff could provide any clarification on this. <br />Commissioner Sedlak discussed fundraising mechanisms and funding from the National <br />organization with Ms. Lewis.
