At the March 5, 2019 City Council meeting, staff will continue this discussion by
providing a summary of the CASA Compact and key State legislation, as well as the
outcomes of the ongoing Tri-Valley cities discussion.
CONCLUSION
There continues to be significant interest at the State level in addressing housing
issues, and Governor Newsom, in his first weeks in office has indicated his willingness
to take an aggressive approach, a view shared by the political supermajority in
Sacramento. With a high degree of certainty that additional legislation will be
forthcoming, it will be important to continue to monitor pending legislation, and seek
proactive ways, such as the recent work with the Tri-Valley cities, to build consensus
around a united approach that can inform advocacy at the State and regional level.Smitted by: Approved by:
0,617tvel / ‘--------
Gerry Beaudin Ne son Fialho
Director of Community City Manager
Development
Attachments:
1.
