Calculation of Total Service <br /> The total years of CaIPERS service will be evidenced by the "Years of Service <br /> Credit" category indicated on the CaIPERS annual member statement or <br /> validated by CaIPERS at the time of retirement. <br /> 1. Managers hired prior to January 1, 2009 (Prior Service) <br /> Managers hired prior to January 1, 2009, who work a minimum of five years <br /> with the City of Pleasanton, are eligible to count prior years of service <br /> completed with another CaIPERS municipal agency toward service <br /> requirements for retiree medical benefits. <br /> Employees hired before January 1, 2009 who promote to management <br /> positions may count prior years of service completed with another CaIPERS <br /> municipal agency for the retiree medical benefit. <br /> 2. Managers hired after January 1, 2009 <br /> Managers hired after January 1, 2009, who work a minimum of five years with <br /> the City of Pleasanton, are eligible for retiree medical insurance benefits based <br /> on City of Pleasanton years of service only. <br /> B. Spouse/Eligible Dependent Continuation of Benefits <br /> In the case where the employee eligible for two party coverage is deceased, the <br /> amount the City is obligated to pay shall be reduced by one-half (1/2). If a <br /> spouse remarries, the obligation by the City shall terminate. Domestic partners <br /> shall be treated in the same manner as spouses for continuation of benefits. <br /> Page 9 of 44 <br />
