determined by the Department. Such employee representatives shall submit requests for excused absences <br /> to the Fire Chief. The Union shall submit a list of the officers of the Union to the Fire Chief in writing at <br /> such time there are any changes in such Union officers. <br /> Section 5. Salaries <br /> 5.1 Rates of Pay <br /> The salary ranges for all employees as set forth in Appendix A represent, for each classification,the base <br /> rate of pay for full-time employment. The salary ranges do not include overtime compensation, specialty <br /> pay and other benefits specifically provided by the Employer as outlined in this MOU. <br /> Effective the first pay period on or after January 1, 2019 (January 12, 2019), the salary ranges of all <br /> classifications covered by this MOU shall be increased by three percent(3%).In addition,the salary ranges <br /> for all suppression classifications will be increased by an additional four percent (4%) and the existing <br /> four percent(4%) Emergency Medical Technician certificate pay will be eliminated. <br /> Effective the first pay period on or after July 1,2019(July 13,2019),the salary ranges of all classifications <br /> covered by this MOU shall be increased by three percent(3%). <br /> Effective the first pay period on or after July 1,2020(July 11,2020),the salary ranges of all classifications <br /> covered by this MOU shall be increased by three and one-half percent(3.5%). <br /> Effective the first pay period on or after July 1,2021 (July 10,2021),the salary ranges of all classifications <br /> covered by this MOU shall be increased by one percent(1%). <br /> 5.2 Entrance Salary <br /> Employees entering Department service shall be placed at step 1 of the salary range for the classification <br /> to which they are appointed. When circumstances warrant, the Fire Chief may authorize initial <br /> appointment or reinstatement to a salary step that is greater than the minimum rate for the classification. <br /> 5.3 Conversion of Pay Rates <br /> Monthly salaries may be converted into any equivalent rate of pay or to any other time basis when, in the <br /> judgment of the Fire Chief, such a conversion is advisable. In determining the equivalent amounts on a <br /> different time basis, the Fire Chief shall provide tables for use in converting monthly salaries to hourly <br /> rates, as well as for calculating hourly rates. <br /> 5.4 Salary Advancement <br /> Permanent and probationary employees shall be advanced one salary step in their respective classifications <br /> after satisfactory completion of full-time service, until they reach the top step of the applicable salary <br /> range. (See timetable below). No salary advancement shall exceed the top step established for the <br /> employee's respective classification. <br /> 5 <br />
