modification of drainage facilities, installation of trail entry/furniture and fence, <br /> landscaping, and striping, etc. were also completed. <br /> Budget <br /> The final construction contract cost, including contract change orders, was $5,726,457. <br /> The following change orders resulted in a net increase of$249,196 to the contract <br /> amount: <br /> 1. Increase of $16,800 for installation of 105 linear feet of concrete median curb and <br /> 500 square feet of Class II aggregate base for future cobblestone on Valley Avenue <br /> at the old railway crossing south of Boulder Street. A section of median curb was <br /> removed with the past railway removal, and restoration of this missing median curb <br /> was necessary. <br /> 2. Increase of $5,000 for additional work performed by the contractor due to the <br /> extension of the project limit to the intersection of Valley Avenue and Stanley <br /> Boulevard. <br /> 3. Increase of$34,869 for the price increase of asphalt of more than 10 percent <br /> between the bid date and the actual performance date. Adjustment for paving oil <br /> index fluctuation required per Project Special Provisions. <br /> 4. Increase of $1,626 for replacement of concrete curb and gutter on Old Vineyard <br /> Avenue on a time and material basis. <br /> 5. Increase of $9,867 for the cost increase of pavement fabric resulted from <br /> terminology conflicts in the City's Specifications vs. Caltrans' Specifications <br /> regarding the geosynthetic products. <br /> 6. Increase of$5,876 for the adjustment of utility boxes and installation of additional <br /> changeable message boards. <br /> 7. Increase of$29,864 for replacement of existing concrete walkway and fence to <br /> meet ADA compliance, and compensation for the delay costs resulting from <br /> changes in field conditions, which required field adjustments and changes to be <br /> made by the Engineer. <br /> 8. Increase of $145,292 as the result of an increase in contract quantities, such as <br /> with asphalt concrete, asphalt curb, pavement repair, creak sealant, adjustment of <br /> existing irons, and striping; traffic detector loop and traffic calming devices, etc., as <br /> compared to the Engineer's Estimate of quantities (balancing change order). <br /> The final project funding and expenditures are summarized in Attachment 1, indicating <br /> the total project expenditures of$5,842,206.
