THE CITY OF <br /> cs — "'"" ::10 ': CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON. <br /> December 18, 2018 <br /> Engineering <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS AND AWARD <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO THE PRESSURE GROUT COMPANY IN <br /> THE AMOUNT OF $155,700 FOR THE VINEYARD AVENUE SEWER <br /> TRENCH REPAIR, CIP NO. 18233 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> This project consists of the injection of grout into the existing unstable sewer trench <br /> along Vineyard Avenue between Sauterne Way and Clara Lane, which will stabilize the <br /> soil around the sewer pipeline. Bids have been received for the project and staff <br /> recommends award of the construction contract to the low bidder, The Pressure Grout <br /> Company (TPGC), in the amount of $155,700 for the Vineyard Avenue Sewer Trench <br /> Repair, CIP No. 18233. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve plans and specifications for the project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the project to The <br /> Pressure Grout Company of Hayward, CA, for a low bid amount of $155,700. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the contract with The Pressure Grout <br /> Company. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute contract change <br /> orders for a contingency amount not-to-exceed $23,355 (approximately 15 percent <br /> of the contract) for unforeseen yet necessary related work. <br /> 5. Authorize the transfer of $39,055 from the Annual Sewer Main Replacement and <br /> Improvements Project, CIP No. 17202, to complete funding for this project. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The anticipated total expenditure for this project is $189,055 (see Attachment 1). There <br /> is currently a project budget of $150,000 in FY2018/19. Staff recommends a transfer of <br /> $39,055 from the Annual Sewer Replacement and Improvements Project, CIP No. <br /> 17202, to complete funding for this project. <br /> This project will result in a decrease in the maintenance costs associated with the <br /> ongoing repair to the roadway and minimize the potential traffic-related claims resulting <br /> from persistent sinkholes. <br />
