THE CITY OF w <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON <br /> June 19, 2018 <br /> Community Development <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE LIST OF GENERAL PRIORITY <br /> AREAS FOR FUTURE ACQUISITION AND DETERMINING THE <br /> EXPENDITURE OF ALTAMONT OPEN SPACE FUNDS FOR SERVICES <br /> RELATED TO STRATEGIC PLANNING AND CONSERVATION <br /> EVALUATION IS CONSISTENT WITH THE ALTAMONT LANDFILL <br /> SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT <br /> SUMMARY <br /> On January 19, 2018, the Altamont Landfill and Resource Recovery Facility Open <br /> Space Advisory Committee (Open Space Committee) voted to establish a list of priority <br /> areas for future acquisition in accordance with the Altamont Landfill Settlement <br /> Agreement. The Committee is recommending the following list of General Priority <br /> Areas for acquisition: <br /> EASTERN AREA WESTERN AREA <br /> • Doolan Canyon Area • Pleasanton Ridge <br /> • Springtown Alkali Sink • Arroyo Mocho <br /> • Tesla/Corral Hollow • Dublin Hills <br /> • Cedar Mountain <br /> • Brushy Peak <br /> • Altamont Pass Wildlife Corridors <br /> In addition, the Open Space Committee is recommending the expenditure of up to <br /> $23,650 to hire a team of researchers from the University of California, Berkeley <br /> (UC Berkeley) to identify, rank and map high conservation values1 in Eastern Alameda <br /> County for the purpose of further refining the list of priority areas. The Open Space <br /> Committee selected UC Berkeley because of their expertise and experience in <br /> conducting similar studies in other Bay Area counties. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt the attached Resolution accepting the Altamont Landfill Open Space Committee's <br /> recommendation to: <br /> 1 Those biological, ecological, social, or cultural values of outstanding significance are known as high <br /> conservation values, or HCVs. <br />
