CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 717 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ~2-5.28, ARTICLE 2 (DEFINITIONS) AND ~2-9.40, ARTICLE 18 (SIGNS), CHAPTER 2 (ZONING), TITLE II !! (ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT) OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, RELATING TO POLITICAL SIGNS ~ THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: !Section 1. ~2-5.28, Article 2, Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordi- nance Code of the City of Pleasanton is hereby amended by the addition of a subsection (f) to read as follows: !i ~2-5.28 i~ a .... !r Co ... ~! e .... ~! f. Signs, political. A political sign shall ~! mean any sign which is designed to influence il the action of the voters either for the ~ passage or defeat of a measure appearing on !~ the ballot of any national, state or local ~ election, or which is designed to influence i the action of the voters either for the i! election or defeat of a candidate for nomi- nation or election to any office, whether public or private, partisan or non-partisan, at any national, state or local election. This definition shall include, but not be limited to, the following elections: races for president, congress, governor, legisla- tor, supervisor, City Council, school board ~ member, union officer, officer in a local i! organization, and any honorary position. !{ Section 2. ~2-9.40 (Exempt Signs), Article 18, Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is !i hereby amended by an amendment to subsection (e) and the! addition of subsection (j), said changes to read as follows: ~2-9.40 Exempt Signs. The following signs are not subject to the regulations of this article: e e e e. Temporary signs, banners, or displays of an emergency, patriotic, religious, civic, or community nature, provided they are removed within seven (7) days following the event to which they pertain.
