BACKGROUND
The Transportation Development Act is a State of California law that provides funding
through State sales tax for projects that comply with regional transportation plans.
Article 3 of the TDA provides funding for bicycle and pedestrian related projects. The
Metropolitan Transportation Commission oversees the allocation of these funds, based
on population, within the nine county MTC region. MTC makes annual distributions of
TDA Article 3 funds to eligible agencies after review of applications submitted.
Eligible project types for these funds include the construction and/or engineering of a
capital project that would construct or maintain a bikeway; bicycle safety education
programs; development of bicycle or pedestrian facilities; restriping of bike lanes and
other pedestrian and bicycle related construction projects.
DISCUSSION
Staff and the City of Pleasanton Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Committee recommends
that an application be submitted for the design and construction of bicycle and
pedestrian improvements on the West Las Positas Corridor. The West Las Positas
Corridor was selected because it is identified as the number one ranked corridor in the
2017 Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing an
application for TDA Article 3 funds.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approve by:
,, l
46/6
Gerry Beaudin Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Director of Finance City Manager
Community Development
Attachments:
1.
