A new enhancement will include a travel training program designed to educate seniors
and persons with disabilities on how to access different modes of transportation in the
Tri-Valley. We will continue to provide outreach, education and mobility coordination
with other local transportation providers such as the Livermore Amador Valley Transit
Authority (LAVTA) and the Senior Support Program of the Tri-Valley Volunteer Driver
Program.
Available reserves from previous year's Measure B/BB allocations will provide for the
purchase of an accessible passenger van to add to the paratransit fleet. This will allow
more efficient transportation for longer trips that aren't typically shared rides. Options
for an eco-friendly accessible passenger van will be explored and considered.
The Mobility Forward: Tri-Valley Paratransit Study is in progress. This study is being
conducted in collaboration with LAVTA. Consultant Nelson Nygaard, was hired to
conduct a comprehensive assessment of Tri-Valley paratransit services. The purpose of
the study is to evaluate the performance of paratransit services provided by the City of
Pleasanton and LAVTA, develop approaches for improving paratransit services for older
adults as well as people with disabilities living in the Tri-Valley, and help define how
investments in paratransit and other transportation should be made in the coming years.
The results of this study will recommend best practices for both the city and LAVTA to
be more efficient Tri-Valley transit providers. There have been delays in the final stages
of the study as a result of unexpected vacancies at LAVTA and at Nelson Nygaard. The
final plan is forthcoming.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
As an existing and continuing program, Pleasanton Paratransit Service is exempt from
the California Environmental Quality Act that may be required under this funding
process.
Submitted by: Fisc I Review: Approved y:
luk
Heidi Murphy Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Library Services, Finance Director City Manager
Acting Director of
Community Services
Attachment:
1.
