Overall Community Farm Funding Model <br /> Amenity Primary Responsible Party— Initial <br /> Construction and Operations <br /> Parking areas and driveways City of Pleasanton <br /> Utilities, site drainage and site landscaping City of Pleasanton <br /> Community Gardens Patch program including City of Pleasanton — Garden plots rented <br /> raised beds, irrigation, benches, hose bibs, annually to defray cost of operations and <br /> etc. maintenance <br /> Demonstration Garden Based on current understandings, the <br /> Alameda County Master Gardeners will <br /> assume all cost of operations and construction <br /> of the Demonstration Garden including, <br /> greenhouses, storage buildings irrigation, etc. <br /> The City will be responsible for providing utility <br /> connections to the Demonstration Garden and <br /> may assist with construction of site fencing. <br /> The Master Gardeners will assume the cost of <br /> ongoing utility costs. Final terms will be <br /> developed with the ground lease. <br /> Learning Center City of Pleasanton <br /> Row Crop area The City of Pleasanton will provide electrical <br /> and water utilities to the site with the <br /> anticipation that the non-profit will provide <br /> necessary site development, storage and <br /> equipment to accommodate site activities. <br /> Fruit OrchardNineyard Staff anticipates the City will provide utility <br /> hook-ups to the site and that the farmer would <br /> assume responsibility for site development <br /> and operations. <br /> Note that the above does not preclude the establishment of a fundraising effort to assist with <br /> project development and operations and staff can see a broad-based community volunteer effort <br /> similar to those in other communities that support community farming activities. These models <br /> most closely resemble the "Friends of the Library" model currently in place in Pleasanton and <br /> many other communities. Further, establishing a nonprofit organization that has a greater role in <br /> overall project oversight may also be an option worth exploring should interest develop. Staff will <br /> remain open to these opportunities and encourage volunteer and fundraising support to assist <br /> with overall project success. <br /> Project Phasing <br /> The Draft Master Plan anticipates a phased approach for the development of the Community <br /> Farm. However, due to the many amenities and planned cooperative use/lease agreements, <br /> the actual timeline for development is based, in part, on factors beyond City control. As an <br /> example, the success of the Master Gardeners fund raising and volunteer efforts will in large <br /> part drive the development timeline for the Demonstration Garden. Further, the development of <br /> the row crop area and the Fruit/Nut Orchard is dependent upon identifying and coming to terms <br /> with an agreeable partner for these operations. Nevertheless, the Draft Master Plan anticipates <br /> that the City will allocate its resources using a phased approach with an initial focus on providing <br /> Page 5 <br />
