Consider Recommendation to Allocate Community Grant Funds in the Youth <br /> Category for Fiscal Year 2018/19 <br /> Mr. Patrick provided background information about the grant fund application process and <br /> review of the applications through Zoomgrants by Commissioners. He advised that a total of <br /> eight (8) applications had been received in the Youth Category for a total of $50,950 in grant <br /> requests and that a total of$40,000 was available to be granted. <br /> Mr. Patrick commented on the Commission's funding criteria and noted that each of the funding <br /> requests met goals of the Youth Master Plan. He commented on "Average Recommended <br /> Funding" and "Olympic Average" totals calculated from information collected from the <br /> Commission's tentative votes on Zoomgrants. <br /> Chairperson Patel opened the meeting for requested agency presentations at 6:10 p.m. <br /> Amador Friends of Music, Katie Brunner — Amador Valley High-Concert Band Workshops — <br /> advised they are seeking funds to be able to provide two workshops for approximately 295 <br /> students. One workshop will bring in professional musicians to work with students and a second <br /> workshop will be held over two-days and bring in guest conductors. Ms. Brunner commented on <br /> meetings goals of the Youth Master Plan, being able treat band members equally by developing <br /> mentoring and learning groups and supporting self-expression. <br /> Commissioners were advised by Ms. Brunner that successful workshops have been held in the <br /> past and allows for networking with professional musicians in many ways. She advised that <br /> Amador Friends of Music has a vast connection with many parents and friends and funds <br /> received will help provide benefits to students without needing to ask parents to pay for <br /> additional things. <br /> Youth Commission Minutes <br /> March 14, 2018 <br /> Page 1 <br />
