Commissioner Morales indicated that she has not heard anything from agencies not being able
to do programs with the funding allocations suggested. Commissioners Farley-Rodgers and
Nene agreed and thought the recommendations, with the changes to Pacific Chamber
Orchestra, were acceptable.
Commissioner Steenman would like for recipients to follow the grant process and hopes
moving forward with the changes being suggested that this will take place. He also felt that
new programs should be fully funded.
Commissioner Casey appreciated staff's effort in putting everything together, felt the concerns
about funding sound equipment were addressed, and was comfortable in recommending
funding as being presented.
Commissioner Wedge-Bonde commented on the two new programs for which funds were
being requested and felt the funding being recommended would be okay. Commissioner
Pellegrino agreed and stated she was good with everything. She also felt the historical
information staff provided was very helpful.
Commissioner Nene questioned whether funding for the Treasures of Japan program would be
sufficient for the event.
Chairperson Jellison indicate she could approve the funding amounts being recommended and
was especially pleased with the cooperative nature of the agency representatives.
A motion was made by Commissioner Pellegrino, seconded by Commissioner Casey, to
forward the following Community Grant Fund recommendations in the Civic Arts Category for
Fiscal Year 2018/19 to City Council:
$ 2,800 - Amador/Livermore Valley HS (Museum on Main) / Ed Kinney Series: "An
Afternoon/Evening With..."
$ 4,667 - Cantabella Children's Chorus / Sound Equipment
$ 4,250 - Livermore Valley Opera / Pleasanton Student Outreach Program
$ 2,729 - Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center/ Arts in the Schools with
Livermore/Amador Symphony
$ 3,250 - Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center/ East Bay Jazz Community Concert
$ 4,000 - Pacific Chamber Orchestra /Assembly Program for PUSD Elementary
Schools
$ 2,583 - Pacific Chamber Orchestra / Clinics for Middle/High School music students
$ 4,074.61 - Pacific Chamber Orchestra / Pacific Chamber Orchestra Matinee Concert
$ 5,292 - Pleasanton Community Concert Band / Enhancement/Audience/Community
Outreach
$ 2,817 - Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council / Community/Opportunities Awareness
$ 6,208 - Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council / Treasures of Japan, Sumi-e-Bonsai, Kaiku
$42,670.61 Total
Civic Arts Commission Minutes
March 5, 2018
Page 4
