CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 701 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-15.03, ARTICLE 1 (SEWER <br /> SERVICE CHARGES), CHAPTER 8 (SEWAGE), TITLE II (ZONING <br /> AND DEVELOPMENT) OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON RELATING TO SEWER SERVICE CHARGES AND ADOPTING <br /> SAID CHANGES AS AN URGENCY MEASURE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, approximately one-half of the City of Pleasanton <br /> <br /> is connected, for sewage disposal purposes, to a sewage treatment <br /> plant operated by the Valley Community Services District } and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City and District executed an agreement in June, <br /> 1967, which, among other things, established the amount of the <br /> sewer service charge to be collected by City and paid to DistriCt <br /> for that portion of City sewered to District's plant; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, District, on May 15, 19Z3, adopted Ordinance No. <br /> 102, increasing their basic sewer service charge 25%, effective <br /> <br /> AUgust 1, 1973; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City's present service charge will not cover the <br /> <br /> increased sewer rate which City is obligated to pay to District <br /> once the District 's new code is in effect; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, unless City increases its service charge to match <br /> <br />~iDistrict's charge, there will be a loss of income to City, since <br /> the difference between District 's and City's rates will have to <br /> be paid for from another fund; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City's ordinance take <br /> effect immediately to prevent the loss of income. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Pleasanton <br /> does ordain as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. §2-15.03 (Charges), Article 1, Chapter 3, <br /> <br /> Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is <br />{ihereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
