THE CITY OF •
11
® ' -•• ° CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTONL
March 6, 2018
Operations Services
TITLE: AUTHORIZE PAYMENT TO MULTIQUIP INC. FOR REPLACEMENT OF
PORTABLE UTILITIES GENERATOR NOT TO EXCEED $139,414
SUMMARY
In October 2015, the City of Pleasanton Utilities Division was required to relinquish three
of the four standby portable power generators in our continuing efforts to stay compliant
with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Tier 4 EPA emissions requirements. To
maintain an acceptable level of portable emergency backup capability, those generators
will need to be replaced with new generators fully compliant with the new stringent
emissions standards. The first new generator required to meet the dynamic needs of the
Utilities system is a 300-kVA rated portable generator that is sufficiently sized to power
the largest pump stations and wells in the City.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended to approve a Purchase Order in the amount not to exceed $139,414
to Multiquip Inc. for the purchase of a 300 kVA Tier 4 CARB compliant generator complete
with trailer, licensing, and tax. The purchase will be made through a Cooperative
Purchase Agreement in conjunction with the National Joint Powers Alliance, which meets
the City's competitive bidding requirement.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The total cost of this equipment complete with trailer, licensing, and tax is $139,413.65.
Sufficient funding for this purchase is available in CIP #16122 (Bi-Annual Water
Emergency Generator), $20,000; CIP #14217 (Bi-Annual Sewer Emergency Generator),
$40,000; CIP #16217 (Bi-Annual Sewer Emergency Generator), $30,000; and Equipment
Replacement Fund 51440131, $50,000.
