<br /> have recycling systems in place,but are not being well utilized or understood.
<br /> Mini-Grant#: 17-36 LVJUSD Altamont Creek Elementary,Altamont Creek Waste Reduction 2.1 Program Design,
<br /> Livermore, East County,$3,000.00-Funds will be used to stipend a consultant and teacher at Altamont Creek Elementary to design
<br /> the next iteration of waste reduction efforts by studying best practices during summer 2017.
<br /> The total 2017 Expenditure Plan budget of$130,000 for Mini-Grants was approved by the Board along with the option to
<br /> carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. A total of$86,792.28 in Mini-Grants was
<br /> approved.
<br /> Project Grants
<br /> The Education Advisory Board awarded 16 Project Grants to the following projects:
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-37 Math Science Nucleus,Food Waste Composting"Parties",Fremont,West County,$5,000.00-Funds
<br /> from this grant will be used to fund 10 free family workshops on composting at Tule Ponds,California Nursery Historical Park and
<br /> Masonic home.
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-38 Nancy Deming,The Replicable Green Gloves Alameda County Wide Support and Assistance,Oakland,
<br /> West County,$35,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to support an additional year of support to continue work previously
<br /> completed and increase reach out and support to schools and school districts in Alameda County to initiate,increase and maintain their
<br /> waste reduction and sorting programs.
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-39 Bishop O'Dowd High School,Zero Waste O'Dowd,Oakland,West County,$30,125.00-Funds from this
<br /> grant will be used to address custodial issues of a previously implemented tri-bin infrastructure and purchase an in-vessel commercial
<br /> comport system to increase on-site organics processing.Funds will also be used to purchase materials to educate students at the
<br /> school.
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-40 Clean Water Fund,ReThink Disposable-Stop waste before it starts,Oakland,West County,
<br /> $27,100.00-Funds from this grant will be used to engage 3-5 food businesses as participants with full audits within the City of San
<br /> Ramon and provide job training for local food service industry professionals in partnership with the Food Service Technology Center.
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-41 Oakland Unified School District,OUSD Green Gloves Program Infrastructure Support,Oakland,
<br /> West County,$20,000.00-Funds from this grant will be used to purchase color coded bins as well as rolling carts,tandem dollies,
<br /> color coded lids,child sizes brooms and dust pans which is all a part of the needed infrastructure of supplies to make sorting happen in
<br /> higher waste stream areas.
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-42 East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse,Expanding Educators' Access to Free Reused Materials,Oakland,
<br /> West County,$35,906.00-Funds from this grant will be used to supply schools with free materials through in-store giveaways and
<br /> "Pop-up Depots,"expand the Green Educator Program in store,online and throughout the bay area,encourage more and frequent
<br /> participation from current Green Educators and promote waste prevention and diversion through reuse of materials.
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-43 Tri-City Volunteers,Food Waste Education,Fremont,West County,$18,000.00-Funds from this grant
<br /> will be used to design and implement a robust training/work program for senior students from Irvington High School by collaborating
<br /> with teachers and alumni that can be used yearly.
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-44 02 Artisans'Aggregate,Upcycleria,Oakland,West County,$48,000.00-Funds from this grant will be
<br /> used to maximize the potential of secondary resources disposed of by industries,reduce the amount of underutilized green waste and
<br /> food waste,produce high quality products such as compost,biochar and livestock feed and educate the public.
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-45 Planting Justice,Thank You Very Mulch!,Oakland,West County,$20,000.00-Funds from this grant
<br /> will be used to further develop the compost educational center and waste-reduction education at PJ's 2 acre nursery,expand school
<br /> waste reduction,composting and garden programs,develop youth leader,create social entrepreneurship opportunities and create"pop-
<br /> ups."
<br /> Project Grant#: 17-46 Earth Team,Sustainable Youth Waste Action Internships,Richmond,West County,$23,597.00-Funds
<br /> from this grant will be used to educate students and increase awareness on campus,engage students to take action and increase
<br /> students' leadership skills by providing organized service learning and connect/network students with other schools to increase
<br /> entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
