THE CITY OF <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PL£ASANTONC <br />4 <br />February 6, 2018 <br />Engineering <br />TITLE: APPROVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH HMH IN <br />THE NOT -TO -EXCEED AMOUNT OF $197,000 FOR THE DESIGN OF THE <br />DOWNTOWN TRANSPORTATION CORRIDOR PARKING LOT <br />IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, CIP NO. 17448 <br />SUMMARY <br />Staff is requesting authorization for the City Manager to execute a contract with HMH to <br />provide engineering and design services for the replacement of the existing parking lot <br />in the transportation corridor between Bernal Avenue and Abbie Street. This project has <br />been identified as the number one priority under the Downtown Pleasanton Parking <br />Strategy and Implementation Plan, which was approved by City Council on April 26, <br />2017. The project is in conformance with the City of Pleasanton General Plan 2005- <br />2025 and the City of Pleasanton Downtown Specific Plan. The existing parking lot <br />provides 60 spaces. The project will add 70 to 80 spaces and provide a walking path, <br />arranged similar to the Fire House Arts Center parking lot. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1 Approve the design professional services agreement with HMH of San Jose, <br />California, for civil engineering services for the Downtown Transportation Corridor <br />Parking Lot Improvements project, CIP No.17448, for a not -to -exceed amount of <br />$197,000. <br />2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The anticipated total expenditure for this project is $2.2 million dollars, including <br />approximately $200,000 for design and $2,000,000 for construction. Design is <br />budgeted in fiscal year 2017-18, and construction is budgeted in fiscal year 2018-19. <br />
