Councilmember Brown noted support for residential on a third-floor, not on a first or second floor <br /> of a mixed-use development. She also noted that she would like to see more retail and restaurant <br /> components in an extended downtown area. <br /> Councilmember Narum noted that she does not support stand-alone residential development or <br /> residential development on the first-floor of a mixed-use development. <br /> 18. Approve calendar year 2018 City Council Assignments and appointment of the Vice Mayor <br /> City Manager Fialho presented the report, noting the recommendation to appoint Councilmember <br /> Olson as Vice Mayor in 2018. <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Narum/Brown to approve the City Council assignments to various <br /> committee and boards and the appointment of Councilmember Arne Olson as Vice Mayor for <br /> calendar year 2018. Motion passed by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Olson, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> Mayor Thorne thanked Vice Mayor Pentin for his service. <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL - None <br /> COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> Vice Mayor Pentin thanked all who participated in placing wreaths across the cemetery for the <br /> veterans. <br /> Councilmember Narum reported riding the DMU BART Car and commented favorably on the <br /> experience. <br /> Councilmember Brown noted attending the PPIE Advisory Council. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:26 p.m. in the memory of Mayor Ed <br /> Lee, San Francisco and extended a tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military.
