BACKGROUND
On June 7, 2016, Council awarded the AMI Infrastructure contract to Delta Engineering
Sales, LLC. in the amount of$7,181,782. On May 2, 2017, the City Council authorized
an amendment to the contract in the amount of$950,000, increasing the total contract
value to $8,131,782. The completion of the AMI project has alleviated the need for bi-
monthly manual water meter reading and provides hourly automated water consumption
data points for the project water meters.
DISCUSSION
The AMI project replaced or retrofitted every water meter under the control of the
Pleasanton Water Utilities with the exception of Kilkare Canyon, which is
geographically/topographically incompatible with this technology, and Castlewood,
which is being replaced under a separate project with Alameda County, with Aclara
MTUs and composite meter box lids. The project included the replacement of 21,192
water meters with the latest non-mechanical meter technologies from Diehl Metering,
Kampstrup, and Elster, and the retrofitting of 581 existing newer mechanical meters, for
a total of 21,773 AMI compatible meters.
Budget
The final contract cost is $7,945,487.57
Of the total funded contract budget of $8,131,782, $8,099,667.79 was initially spent and
at project end, was reduced by a $154,180.22 credit for meter recycling, resulting in a net
contract cost of $7,945,487.57. The final contract funding and expenditures are
summarized in Attachment 1 to this report, indicating the contract balance of$186,294.43
to be returned to the Water Enterprise Fund.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approve by:
///7
Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Operations Director of Finance City Manager
and Water Utilities
Attachment:
1.
