Work in the downtown area will have the most impacts to traffic. The pipeline will be
installed on the west side of the Main Street, in the southbound lane. Traffic will have to
be detoured around the construction zone on a block by block basis while work is
actually underway. Traffic on the street will be restored each day by 5 p.m. In the
construction zone, on-street parking on Main Street will be prohibited during the day
time work hours, but opened back up by 5 p.m. for the evening. There will be major
impacts at the intersection of Ray Street and Main Street as the street is not wide
enough to allow two-way traffic and instead will be controlled by single lane operation.
The single lane operation, controlled by a flagger, is expected to last less than five days.
Sidewalk access will be maintained at all times. The first block on the side streets within
the construction zone will be open only to local traffic.
The contractor will not be allowed to store equipment and materials on Main Street
outside of work hours. It is anticipated that the contractor's storage yard will be located
on the transportation corridor between Cole's Supermarket and the AT&T office
between Spring Street and Ray Street.
Submitted by: , Fiscal Review: Approve by:
Stephen patrick Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director c ngineering Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments:
1.
