She felt it <br /> is a mistake as it is the only way people have access to what is happening within the zone. She <br /> asked for Council's support to encourage them to continue broadcasting their meetings for <br /> increased transparency. <br /> Mayor Thorne stated he will ask Council to consider sending a letter to Zone 7 during Matters <br /> Initiated by Council. <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br /> 14. Review 2017 Community Survey results <br /> Director of Library Services Heidi Murphy provided details of the staff. report addressing <br /> background and the purpose of community surveys. She introduced Curt Below, with FM3; listed <br /> his experience and deferred to him for a report. <br /> Curt Below presented results of the survey addressing the survey methodology. <br /> Councilmember Brown commented on the similarity of responses of people with H1B Visas, who <br /> are new to the country, who are not registered voters and people on voter rolls. Mr. Below <br /> reported they tend to rank resources in similar manners although specifically, people with HIB <br /> visas are not called out. Councilmember Brown asked whether people without land lines are being <br /> appropriately questioned and Mr. Below reported 58% of interviews conducted were on cell <br /> phones. <br /> Mr. Below continued with the presentation addressing high quality-of-life ratings and comparison <br /> with other California communities, results by demographics, belief the City is an excellent place to <br /> raise children, results related to safety, demographic distinctions, changes in attitude by <br /> demographics, top concerns facing Pleasanton including growth and its effects, verbatim <br /> responses, traffic and cost-of-living issues, concerns by renters versus homeowners, concerns <br /> related to overall traffic and development, attitudes toward City government, voters' ratings of City <br /> services, areas for improvement, additional priorities, satisfaction with the quality of development <br /> and protecting City services and nature as important goals for planning. He addressed.assessing <br /> City services, grouping City services, top priorities, ratings related to parks, services and <br /> programs; business development, biking and hiking trails; and, levels of satisfaction relative to <br /> police and fire protection services and 911 emergency response services. <br /> Councilmember Pentin noted there are several 10% or better ratings of people that do not know <br /> and asked whether that would skew the numbers. Mr. Below responded affirmatively and reported <br /> the numbers are combined first and the "do not knows" are taken out. <br /> Mr. Below reported there is room for improvement in traffic flow management and on important <br /> services such as water quality and supply. He addressed contact with City department and <br /> facilities and noted City workers continue to get high marks, all around. Additionally, nine in ten <br /> respondents were satisfied with the service they received.
