3) The top concern stated numerous times in the survey relates to water (p 34 &
35). This City Council has stated that potable water is the responsibility of Zone 7 (a
water wholesaler) The City has stated that it is only a distributor It is important to
note that the survey indicates that water is the #1 priority/concern
However, the City has stated that it has no control over Zone 7, or it's elected
Directors
4) P 23 does not mention the Independent or the Pleasanton Weekly
This surprised me
5) Vastly different responses were received based on how the question was asked
For example
P 13 (slide 24) shows lowers taxes received a 1% concern.
P. 10 (slide 18) shows a 30% concern related to taxes.
P 8 (slide 15) shows a 2% concern related to freeway traffic
P 9 (slide 17) shows a SERIOUS concern of 89% (31+38+20) of traffic congestion
on local freeways
Data from surveys such as this are useful
However, anomalies/discrepancies should be investigated. Results should not be
evaluated in a vacuum Consideration should be given to results of other surveys, as
well as community input (regardless of whether or not one is registered to vote).
I hope this type of survey will continue
John Bauer
South Pleasanton
2
