HCD. HCD has approved the use of CPVC potable water pipe for use inside <br /> buildings. Upon advice of City Counsel, until this lawsuit is decided it is not <br /> prudent to adopt this portion of the Plumbing Code. Other types of water pipe <br /> (such as copper pipe) will continue to be the mainstay potable water conduit <br /> inside building in the City. <br /> <br /> 8. As to Section 20.58.010 (Solar Energy Code), currently the citizens of the City <br /> have no adopted nationally recognized standard to install solar energy saving <br /> devices. With the adoption of this ordinance, citizens will have a common <br /> nationally recognized standard to install these devices. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Cotmcil finds that because of the reasons stated, the State of Califomia <br /> adopted Building Standards Code, Specifications, and Standards in their entirety <br /> do not adequately address the life safety requirements of the City of Pleasanton; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that because of the current lawsuit between HCD and a <br /> group of private organizations (the California Pipe Trades Council, et al) the <br /> requirements of this Ordinance are necessary for continued continuity of <br /> construction materials and the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the <br /> City of Pleasanton: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that because of the local topography and recent seismic <br /> activity and fire related death and damage in the City of Pleasanton and pursuant <br /> to Health and Safety Code Section 18941.5 the requirements of the Pleasanton <br /> Municipal Code Sections 20.08.025, 20.08.030, 20.08.034, 20.08.038, 20.08.039, <br /> 20.08.042, 20.08.044, 20.08.046, 20.08.048, 20.08.049, 20.08.050, 20.08.053, <br /> 20.08.054, 20.08.055, 20.08.056, 20.08.057, 20.08.058, 20.08.062, 20.08.064, <br /> 20.08.066, 20.08.068, 20.08.072, 20.08.074, 20.08.076, 20.08.078 and 20.58.010 <br /> the codes and standards of this Ordinance are necessary for the health, safety and <br /> welfare of the residents of the City of Pleasanton; <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 20.04 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code, as amended, is hereby <br />further amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"20.04.010 Uniform Administrative Code Adopted. <br /> (Subsection A, no change.) <br /> <br /> <br />
