Sec. 9.306 Painting and Ornamental Finishes <br /> <br />306.1 *Sprinkler flames may be factory painted or enameled as ornamental finish in accordance <br />with 9.306.2; otherwise sprinklers shall not be painted, and any sprinklers which have been <br />painted, except for factory applied coatings, shall be replaced with new listed sprinklers. <br /> <br />306.2*Ornamental finishes shall not be applied to sprinklers by anyone other than the sprinkler <br />manufacturer, and only sprinklers listed with such finishes shall be used. <br /> <br />Sec. 9.307 Alarms <br /> <br />*Local water flow alarms shall be provided on all sprinkler systems. Water flow alarms and <br />valve tamper shall be connected to the Livermore Communications Center under the following <br />conditions: <br /> <br />307.1 All buildings with eight (8) or more units or, <br /> <br />307.2 When there are four (4) or more buildings per complex or, <br /> <br />307.3 When there are more than sixty-four (64) units per complex. <br /> <br />CHAPTER 4 System Design <br /> <br />Sec. 9.401 Design Criteria <br /> <br />Design Discharge <br />The system shall provide a discharge of not less than 18 gallons per minute (68 L/min) to any <br />single operating sprinkler and not less than 13 gallons per minute (49 L/min) per sprinkler to the <br />number of design sprinklers or as specified by the sprinkler manufacturer according to the <br />sprinkler listing and water demand. <br /> <br />Sec. 9.402 Number of Design Sprinklers and Water Demand <br /> <br />The number of design sprinklers shall be as follows: <br /> <br />402.1 Standard for One (1) to Four (4) Dwelling Units. <br /> <br />402.1.1 The number of design sprinklers shall include all sprinklers within a compartment <br />to a maximum of four (4) sprinklers. When the number of design sprinklers is less than four (4) <br />for a compartment, the design shall include a five (5) gallon per minute domestic use <br />simultaneous with sprinkler flow per unit. This domestic use shall be calculated at the base of <br />riser. (See Appendix B and Tables I & II). <br /> <br /> 2o <br /> <br /> <br />
