Scope, Purpose, and Limitations <br /> <br />See 9,101 Purpose <br /> <br />This standard describes a low-cost automatic sprinkler system which will contribute to the <br />reduction of loss of life and property damage by fire currently experienced in residences. <br /> <br />See 9.102 Scope <br /> <br />This standard describes the requirements for the mechanical and performance properties of the <br />sprinkler itself. It also describes the requirements for the installation of the complete sprinkler <br />system for one to fifteen family dwelling units (not exceeding 12,000 sf in any one building and <br />UBC Standard 9-1 for all other occupancies. <br /> <br />See 9,103 Performance Criteria <br /> <br />This standard for a low-cost residential automatic sprinkler system is designed for the following <br />performance criteria: <br /> <br />1. To prevent flashovers. <br />2. To save lives immediately adjacent to the fire and protect internal exposures. <br />3. To confine the fire to room of origin. <br />4. To work in conjunction with the Livermore Pleasanton Fire and Building Codes as <br /> adopted. <br />5. To reduce property damage. <br /> <br />Sec 9.104 Limitations <br /> <br />This standard is intended to describe a suppression system which can maintain a tenable <br />environment for a period often (10) minutes following the operation of the sprinkler. <br /> <br /> 13 <br /> <br /> <br />
