SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Justin Brown Provided to the City Council
(Junipero Street Resident) After Distribution of Packet
SP 05291
Date
On Aug 31, 2017, at 6:51 PM, Justin Brown wrote:
TO: Nelson Fialho & Gerry Beaudin
CC: Pleasanton City Council
RE: item 16 on the Sep 5th City Council Agenda—Junipero Street and Independence Drive
Traffic Calming
The cross-walk indicated at the intersection of Independence Drive and Independence Court
makes very little sense as I outlined to Mike Tassano at the neighborhood public preview. The
reason it makes very little sense is that the intersection is very close to Independence Drive &
Junipero Street which is already equipped with crosswalks on all 3 sides and a sidewalk on the
4th. Providing crosswalks North-South and East-West at the Independence Court intersection
would service a grand total of only 7 homes which can easily walk –100 feet south and instead
use the crosswalks at the Independence Drive & Junipero Street intersection. Looking North
from Independence Ct, there is also no value to be gained as no sidewalk exists on the East side
of Independence Drive between Independence Ct and Arelene Place.
Instead of the aforementioned crossings, I would much rather see a crossing at Mission Drive
and Junipero Street which has the possibility to serve the 50+ homes to the west and south
(including mine). Myself& my three kids on bikes or scooters often cross at that spot to reach
the natural SW entry to the park and is a natural delineation to the start of the precarious s-curve.
I oppose ratification of the plan until this change is made and I have also provided this feedback
several times to our neighborhood representative Vicki Labarge. I do support all of the other
components of the calming plan.
Unfortunately I will be in Canada for my mother's 70th birthday on September 5th so I am
sending this email in lieu and would request modification of the plan before ratification.
Thankyou for your kind consideration and all you do for the city.
—Justin Brown
Begin forwarded message:
From: Pleasanton City Clerk
<pleasantoncitvclerk ancityofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject: Pleasanton City Council Meeting Agenda
Date: August 31, 2017 at 4:22:06 PM PDT
To: •
2
