Annette Brecheisen
From: Ellen Holmgren
Sent: Friday, September 01, 2017 9:59 AM
To: Justin Brown; Nelson Fialho; Gerry Beaudin
Cc: Mayor and City Council; Pleasanton City Clerk; Mike Tassano; Kendall Granucci
Subject: RE: Pleasanton City Council Meeting Agenda
Dear Justin Brown,
Thank you for your email regarding Item 16 on the September 5, 2017, City Council Agenda regarding the
Junipero Street/Independence Drive Traffic Calming Plan.
This email acknowledges receipt of your email to the Mayor and City Council and the City Manager.
Thank you again for your interest in the City of Pleasanton.
Sincerely yours,
Ellen Holmgren, Administrative Assistant
City of Pleasanton
From:Justin Brown [mailto:. _
Sent:Thursday, August 31, 2017 6:52 PM
To: Nelson Fialho<NFialho @cityofpleasantonca.gov>; Gerry Beaudin <gbeaudin @cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Cc: Mayor and City Council<citycouncil @cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject: Fwd: Pleasanton City Council Meeting Agenda
TO: Nelson Fialho & Gerry Beaudin
CC: Pleasanton City Council
RE: item 16 on the Sep 5th City Council Agenda—Junipero Street and Independence Drive Traffic Calming
The cross-walk indicated at the intersection of Independence Drive and Independence Court makes very little
sense as I outlined to Mike Tassano at the neighborhood public preview. The reason it makes very little sense is
that the intersection is very close to Independence Drive & Junipero Street which is already equipped with
crosswalks on all 3 sides and a sidewalk on the 4th. Providing crosswalks North-South and East-West at the
Independence Court intersection would service a grand total of only 7 homes which can easily walk–100 feet
south and instead use the crosswalks at the Independence Drive & Junipero Street intersection. Looking North
from Independence Ct, there is also no value to be gained as no sidewalk exists on the East side of
Independence Drive between Independence Ct and Arelene Place.
Instead of the aforementioned crossings, I would much rather see a crossing at Mission Drive and Junipero
Street which has the possibility to serve the 50+homes to the west and south(including mine). Myself& my
three kids on bikes or scooters often cross at that spot to reach the natural SW entry to the park and is a natural
delineation to the start of the precarious s-curve.
I oppose ratification of the plan until this change is made and I have also provided this feedback several times to
our neighborhood representative Vicki Labarge. I do support all of the other components of the calming plan.
1
