Commendation acknowledging Afreen Shameem on her winning design for the new library card <br /> Councilmember Narum read a commendation for Afreen Shameem, on behalf of City Council, on her <br /> winning design for the new library card. <br /> Afreen Shameem expressed her appreciation for the commendation. <br /> 15. Readings by the Teen Poet Laureates and the Adult Literary Arts Ambassador <br /> Mayor Thorne provided information on the Teen Poet Laureates program and invited members of the <br /> program to read their poems. <br /> Meg Flemming, Adult Literary Arts Ambassador, shared a text from her book, I Heart You. <br /> 16. Public Comment <br /> Julie Testa commented on new enrollment numbers for the Pleasanton Unified School District noting it <br /> is up by 1,036 students compared to last year and over the demographer's predictions. <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br /> 17. Second reading and adoption Ordinance No. 2164 adding to the Municipal Code a new Chapter <br /> 9.26 restrictions on smoking in multifamily rental apartments and a unifying amendment to <br /> §9.24.060, with options for medical marijuana <br /> Assistant City Attorney Larissa Seto presented the staff report addressing background, City Council <br /> prior actions, details of the approved ordinance, medical marijuana, options in dealing with medical <br /> marijuana and staff recommendations. <br /> City Council Minutes Page 4 of 6 August 15,2017 <br />
