ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AMENDING CHAPTER 20.70 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH AN EXPEDITED, STREAMLINED PERMITTING PROCESS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS WHEREAS, the State of California and the City of Pleasanton recognize the importance of promoting and encouraging the use of electric vehicles by limiting obstacles and minimizing the permitting costs for such systems; WHEREAS, California Government Code § 65850.7 requires every city and county to adopt an ordinance that creates an expedited, streamlined permitting process electric vehicle charging stations; WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of "green building" and the creation of an expedited, streamlined and cost-effective permitting process for electric vehicle charging stations would facilitate convenient charging of electric vehicles and help reduce the community's reliance on fossil fuels; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Finds that the amendment to the Pleasanton Municipal Code establishing an expedited permitting process for electric vehicle charging stations is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as there is no possibility that the permitting process may have a significant effect on the environment per Title 14 Cal. Code of Regs. §15061(b)(3). Section 2. Amends Pleasanton Municipal Code Title 20 Buildings and Construction, Chapter 20.70, as set forth in the attached EXHIBIT A. Section 3. A summary of this ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley Times", a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Pleasanton, and the complete ordinance shall be posted for fifteen (15) days in the City Clerk's office within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. Section 4. This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its passage and adoption. The foregoing Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pleasanton on August 15, 2017 by the following vote. Ayes: Noes: Absent: Abstain:
